Goal: To create a purpose driven school community that will collectively work together to cultivate greatness within schools.


Getting Started:

Guidelines:

  1. Decide as a group what would you like to get out of this book club / book talk? (Set objectives)
  2. Decide how reading this book can support personal and professional development.
  3. Decide on a schedule for reading chapters.
  4. How long will it take to read the book?
  5. Decide on a completion date. When should everyone finish reading the book? 
  6. Decide when the book talk will occur. (set a date)
  7. Decide if you will you meet as a full staff or by departments (in-person or via Zoom)
  8. Decide if you will have refreshments.
  9. Decide on action steps after reading the book. What policies and practices will be implemented or enhanced at the school site?

How to get the most from the book and prepare for the Book Talk:

  • Take notes in the book margin. 
  • Highlight passages 
  • Put sticky notes on pages that you want to revisit during the discussion.
  • Organize thoughts prior to the meeting: Prepare questions and note quotes that you want to revisit or discuss at the talk.
  • Provide teachers and staff with The Purpose Driven Teacher/Educator Reflective Journals for personal and professional growth. (write reflections after each chapter)
  • Provide staff with chapter reflection questions.

Finally: 

  • Post comments on social media. (IG, Tiktok, Twitter, Facebook)
  • Join the The Purpose Driven School Facebook Group
